Slamdance Road Trip (Day 2)
Before we started off we decided to stop off and pick up a few provisions. One of which was some blank cds so that we could burn some music as we went. I made an mp3 cd that wouldn't play on her machine so Jason was cool enough to break out his laptop and he put those songs onto his HD and started burning some cds that her machine could recognize. Oh, also, I took over the reigns of driving for a good part of the morning.

Salt Lake City!
Royal Residence Inn, our home for a couple days.
So before Slamdance, Macintosh Braun were going to play at a place called Kilby Court, which turned out was about 4 blocks away from our motel. We decided to go get some food before the show at some place that turned out to have bad service and mediocre food. While we were eating Alyssa got a call from Ian and they needed batteries for one of their mics. Which led to us walking around trying to find a store that sold batteries, which actually turned out to be fairly difficult. We finally found some at a gas station, and by that time it was time to head over to the venue.
You sure the venue's down there?
Mackintosh Braun's home for the next couple days.
Started off as a garage, then more bands started practicing there...
... then people started paying, it's been an official place for years now.
Kilby Court - once just a garage.. now a garage with bands in it.
Ian Mouser startin' his set. The camper was also his temporary home.

I love random shit like this.
Kind of a funny, but Alyssa tends to handle a lot of the networking stuff for MB like MySpace for example. Well a woman hit up Ian asking where one of their shows was gonna be (or something like that) and I guess there was some more correspondence in there. Well her and her friend showed up and were all googly eyed for most of the show. After the show we all wanted to grub and she knew of a place in town that was supposedly good and close. Since we walked over there, the 'close' part was a good thing to hear.
Jason found the place on his iPhone and we started following its directions. Turns out we either looked up the wrong place or the iPhone was wrong, or something along those lines. So me, Jason, and Evan ended up walking around in the cold for a while until we decided to call Alyssa and see where the hell they were. During that conversation Jason's phone died and since me and Evan don't have cells, we were kinda boned.
To get out of the cold and to see if we could use their phone, we ducked into a bar. Where we found a bored looking woman manning the entrance. The main dining area was closed but the bar in the back was open so she was all by her lonesome. After we spoke with her for a bit she said it'd be alright to call our friend so long as it wasn't too long. Well it ended up being long, and we found out that where ever that restaurant was, it wasn't close. So we said F it and decided to stay where we were and get some food.. after Jason became a member that is. Apparently in Utah you can't go into a bar unless you're a member or accompanied by a member.
This little trip filled with wrong turns actually led us to a pretty cool place though. Once we got to the back there was a space heater (big one) outside on this veranda. So while Jason & Evan smoked I warmed myself. Then we went back in and got some drinks and food. And boy, did they have some good food. I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's nothing better than being tired and cold and then getting warm and filling up your belly. They also had a really good mix of songs playing. I don't remember the topics, but we also spoke with our waitress for a while, she was a cool chick.
Ben, Ian, Ian, and the soon to be Mrs. Mackintosh (having a good time somewhere else)
drummers always get the ladies.
