6 Degrees of Alicia Keys

Ok, so this is one of those random life occurrences. Every morning (unless I'm under some kind of deadline), I get up, dick around on the internet, then start my day (shower, food, work). Well one of the 'dicking around' sites I frequent is deviantart. I have a set of artists I've added to my 'watch' list, and like to keep up with. Well, Alvin Lee posted this in his blog area.

I was like "wow, Alicia Keys, that's pretty cool". Then I went through the back-and-forth with myself "you should submit something | nah, there's gonna be so many talented artists submitting | aww fuck it, just send some links off"

So I sent some links to some finished illustrations along with some links to sketches so they could get an idea of my style/range. Well, about a couple hours later, a mail pops up in my inbox, and it's [...Read More]

Mazda RX-8

Updated: 2010-12-01

Finally got around to the door handle, and all the lights. All that's left on the body is the gas tank, and some re-working of the front fender. Started modeling the interior, and playing with some textures. Gonna have to tackle the wheels real soon too, those temps just aren't cutting it anymore.

Started working on a script that allows the user to pick the wheels and body, hit 'Build Rig', and it'll build an easily animatable rig. I want to add the ability for the rig to react to surfaces such as bumpy terrain, but that's further down the road (so to speak).

DIY - HTPC

I've been running MVix boxes for a couple years now, and they've handled my basic media needs. About a year ago a friend of mine built a pretty sweet home theater setup and was using XBMC for his UI. Ever since then I slowly became more and more unsatisfied with the UI for the MVix box. So one day I downloaded XBMC (Camelot build), installed it, and started playing around. After getting all me media loaded into the database, customizing the skin, and changing my pants after my nerd-gasm I decided that it was time to figure out how I could utilize this awesome tool.

After some research I found that there was no way to add XBMC to my current MVix box. With that knowledge I began the undertaking of building a HTPC. A couple days later of research and I had decided on the parts that I wanted. I knew I wanted to buy components that'd be somewhat future proof, but I didn't want to spend a lot [...Read More]

Bens Tat

Bens Tat thumbnail

A friend I've had for a long time now asked me to come up with a tatoo for him that looked like his arm was torn open and there were cybernetics beneath the skin, and also if I could encorperate a Lily and a Rose (the names of his daughters). At first I was like "uhh, errr, I dunno". But after some thought I came up with the idea that the flowers would be growing out of the torn hole. Makes sense when you think about it, his girls came from his blood, so the flowers are sprouting from inside of the machine.

I had him take measurements of the area on his arm where he wanted it. I then drew up that size on some paper and got to work. I scanned the line art in and painted it up. He has both the line-art and color.

Try to ignore the surrounding 'skin' around the bionics. That was just thrown in for a simulation of what it might look like. If he ever finds a tattoo guy that can pull it off, [...Read More]
